Last Saturday, the new 7th Edition rule book for 40k was released. A lot of people were upset, as the last edition was released in 2012, only two years ago, as opposed to previous editions being released in 4 year intervals, making this the quickest update to the rules ever, and having people fork out more money two years early if they wish to continue playing. Was it a ploy for money? Possibly. However it does add a bit to the game.

With a relatively early release of the 7th Edition rules, that makes our new Codex: Astra Militarum the first codex of the new rules. Now, having had a quick glance at the rule book, not a great deal changes from the old rules. Some notable changes are; 'new ways to organize your army, new psychic phase and demonology, and new missions and objectives'. The majority of the rules themselves have not changed much at all, aside from little things like allowing elites to hold objectives and so on.

Now that some time has passed, and that you certainly have had time to experiment with our new codex, I am quite happy with it. I tried my first game with it not so long ago and was very impressed with the new orders, and the tank HQ which can issue orders to other armoured units, which was previously not possible in the game.

What are everyone else's thoughts on either the new rules, or the Astra Militarum codex?

All hail the God Emperor.

General Information

Who are We?
This club is for those who like the Imperial Guard as a whole. Generally, members would draw/create pictures of, or collect an army of the Imperial Guard. Aside from that, it is a club for anyone who is interested in the Imperial Guard, and/or simply prefers them over other Warhammer 40,000 factions.

About the Imperial Guard
The Imperial Guard are the largest body of fighting men and women in the 41st Millennium Imperium. The Imperial Guard is a colossal organization, consisting of billions of men and women from millions of different worlds and systems within the Imperium. Each regiment is a force of between three thousand and ten thousand fighting soldiers, supported by a dazzling array of light and heavy armoured vehicles. Each regiment also has its own entourage, consisting of support staff, camp followers, suppliers, tech-priests, doctors, religious leaders, and the like.

The Imperial Guard are far more numerous than the Space Marines, as the contributions of some planets to Imperial Guard regiments over the ten thousand years of the Imperium runs into the billions. The Imperial Guard are constantly at war, freeing worlds from Chaotic or alien influence, or defending them from the same.

Sure, as long as you have made it yourself, there is no problem.

Astra Militarium.    Rumors abound that its going to be the new name for the Guard.  I am desperately hoping that its nothing but a pack of heretic lies and nonsense.  because if it Is what the Guard are gonna be called.  Then it will cause a small riot.    As for me. I still just stick to the past and stay there.  And say to the warp with GW's fluff from now on,  if the rumors are true.

I know. its very annoying.   but at least I can chaulk it up as being High Gothic  while The Imperial Guard is the Low gothic interation of the Army.   it kind of makes sense then.   and the codex does still have the name of Imperial Guard within its pages in regards to that Army.   So its not that huge of a change.

There is no way that could be true. Unless it went back to being called 'The Imperial Army', from the herecy era, but that sounds no where near as impressive as the Imperial Guard. I think it very unlikely. It's just as if you changed the name of Space Marines or Tyranids, it just couldn't be done.
